The Laser Girls are elevating nail art to a whole new dimension: the third dimension, that is. New Yorkers Sarah C. Awad and Dhemerae Ford have teamed up with Shapeways to create a line of 3D-printed nails that put the "digit" in "digital." But make no mistake, these aren't your Aunt Iona's tacky press-ons. Awad and Ford's designs are elaborate works of art that are prone to flights of fantasy. Even the materials they use have more in common with a museum than say, Duane Reade. Besides printing with the more typical nylon and acrylic, the Laser Girls also cast their tips with metals such as aluminum, bronze, and polished gold steel.

But even their plastic offerings aren’t for shrinking violets. Available in bold, saturated colors like amethyst, raspberry, and royal blue, each piece is a textural landscape of pyramidal studs, web-like lace, and gothic armor. Daring and playful, it’s no wonder that these ornate talons are rapidly gaining traction with the likes of Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Rihanna.
